Jersey Nerds Fantasy Football 2020 Recap

Back at the beginning of September, we put out a call for whoever was interested to join our fantasy football league.

Of course, we encouraged each of our participants to design a logo and/or uniforms for their respective fantasy team. And they definitely delivered on that.

Most surprisingly of all, we made it all the way through the season.

We ended up with eight people taking part in the Jersey Nerds Fantasy league, with three Nerds in the mix as well.

The season began with our draft back in August. Let’s see how that went!

The first four overall picks of our fantasy draft were ABSOLUTE MISTAKES. All four players, projected to make huge impacts this season, dealt with injuries and were nowhere near superstar form. The second half of the first round, however, featured some excellent picks as Henry, Kamara, Cook, and Adams put up a whole lotta fantasy points this year.

Now, let’s finally take a look at the final standings of the Jersey Nerds Fantasy Football League, revealed in reverse order, and featuring any uniforms and logos each team owner may have created for their fantchise. (I just made that word up. It’s a combination of “fantasy” and “franchise.” Do you like it?)

(And if the final standings look weird, it’s because we had all eight of us make the playoffs. Deal with it.)

Below, we have the final regular season standings, as compared to the final standings after the playoffs.

At the end of the day, Scott’s TorchedTwine was the best overall team during the regular season, scoring 1932.64 total points behind Josh Allen, Alvin Kamara, and A.J. Brown, but sadly lost in the first round of the playoff to Calvin Ridley and Alex’s Langley Raptors, meaning a fifth-place finish was the best they could (and did) end up with.

A narrow 123.62 to 122.52 victory in Week 16 saw William’s Idaho Sackers end Langley’s Cinderella playoff run, allowing them to face Sergio’s Norf Side Ninjas, who handily beat Noah’s Double Doinkers to advance to the championship game.

And in that championship game, behind 25.80 points from quarterback DeShaun Watson, 29.50 from backup running back Alexander Mattison, and 21 POINTS from the Buffalo Bills defense… the Norf Side Ninjas prevailed over the Idaho Sackers, 137 to 94.32.

Who wants do it all again next year?
